Colorado-grown grains milled for performance and flavor.
A family-run stone flour mill in the heart of the Roaring Fork Valley
What you’re getting…
Here at Roaring Fork Mill, we mill for performance and flavor. All of our grains are grown in Colorado and traditionally ground on a stone grist mill. Since stone mills grind at a slower speed and cooler temperature, our flours retain the natural oils of the wheat berry, the heart-healthy germ, and the fiber-packed bran.
Our grains have never been genetically modified, and our flours are unbleached and unbromated, leaving you with easily digestible, nutrient-dense, and richly flavorful foods that are healthier for both you and our planet.
Additionally, we upcycled spent brewers grain from our local breweries: Mountain Heart Brewery and Aspen Brewing Co. We take these spent grains and mill them back into flour, creating baked goods as an example of a more sustainable food system.
… And what you’re giving back
Ancient grains — indigenous wheat varieties that date back 1,000+ years — are among the few edible plants that have been un-altered by humans, and therefore lack the chemical modifications that often lead to gluten intolerance. Heritage grains — varieties of 100+ years of age — similarly date back prior to the chemical modifications and plant breeding of the Green Revolution.
Heritage and ancient grains’ un-altered plant structures can easily top six feet, pulling more carbon from the sky into their deep root systems, nurturing soil health, and helping combat the climate crisis.
